RaDiOrg – Rare Diseases Belgium – organised two EUROPLAN Round Tables within RD-ACTION. The first one took place on 6 October 2017, and the second one, on 8 June 2018 in Brussels.
These two Round Tables gathered relevant stakeholders in the field of rare diseases: patient representatives, academia, health care professionals and public health institutions.
The first Round Table focused on the governance of the Belgium National Plan for Rare Diseases, specifically on the following issues:
- Diagnostics
- Care for patients living with rare diseases
- Orphan medicinal products and medical needs that are not covered
For each of these three priority issues, a set of recommendations has been issued by the participants.
The second Round Table aimed to have a clear analysis of the current situation of rare diseases in Belgium, progresses made in addressing the rare diseases’ challenges over the past fifteen years and what supplementary actions could be addressed in the Rare Disease Plan.
